Panhandling

By Thasia Anne

I wear my
fingerless gloves
and pull my collar
up against the words
whipping about
Some so cold
my spine
can't take anymore
Others sizzle
in my ears
I have a rusted tin can
collecting
whatever words
a fellow could spare
Heated words
Heartless words
Harming words
Happy,
Helpful words
My can
finally full to the brim
with trim
self-satisfying
fulfilling words
