By Prunella Nadler

As a young girl
I wasn't careful about rules
I was polite but i was daring
No brothers to scare me
No father to ensnare me
No one but the meanest mom
A couple of fearsome grams
Uncles and aunts that could
Put you in your place
Get in your face
Do not disgrace yourself!
By sitting meekly on the shelf
Of demure and insecure

I really liked her
My teenage self
I just learned to ignore her
Like nearly everyone else
