Bewilderment

By Melinda Taylor

She use to have so much wonderment
Now it's turned to bewilderment
A life well lived is over now
Unless she makes it work again somehow
For years she suffered abuse and torment
Then she rose up and got out of it
Working towards her goals in life
With no more pain and no more strife
She walked on eggshells til her feet were bleeding
Never even thinking or believing
That one day she would have feet so pink
With no more pain or suffering
She walked barefoot a lot then
With her pretty feet and skin
She was proud of the fact that she survived
Walking on eggshells
No more compromise
