Happy Day

By Ben Vest

As the song is sung,
My dimness day is illuminated by flames,
As the cake comes,
Pondering on what wishes came,
My heart beat drums,
Feeling the selfishness of shame.

Placed before me in the center,
A chocolate cake with icing,
My wish forms towards adventure,
But I’ve missed my timing,
Another day closer to dentures,
Muffling my rhymings,
That inexcusable gesture,
Their apology was lying.

The icing to taste,
I grabbed him by the face,
Fast and forced down,
Into the sugar he drowned,
I thought he was fooling,
But as his blood started pooling,
I heard the toothpicks snap and break,
Lifting his face he wouldn’t wake,
His face was covered in glaze,
Staring back at me with a lifeless daze.
