Silent Protector

By Davina Purnell

She wasn't your average critter,
Her motion to still to be seen.
In the dark or daylight,
She could blend into a moon beam.
Studious and aware,
She studied them all.
Simply waiting, for one to start to fall.
Her soft quiet stance,
a lightning quick reflex.
Gathered to her bosom,
Before they break their necks.
Shock in their eyes, as they are caught in her gaze.
We never thought you were anything more than one of the strays,
She nods with kindness in her gaze .
Always WATCH your balance, be careful where you step.
For next time I might be busy, saving someone else's neck.
