Dancing to Your Own Tune

Dancing to Your Own Tune

By Kay Bradley

She was a perky little filly
Dancing playfully and silly
She was carefree at noon
She whistled a happy tune

Then the saddle put on her back
Made her pause in her tracks
But soon it became a part of her
Not just an impediment with a bur

But the reins were a painful thing
And now she was restricted to a ring
Someone else telling her what to do
Till her sky was red, no longer blue

Put out to pasture when she aged
Some would think it a depressing stage
But now she gallops, free at last
No longer an actor in some man’s cast
