In the Bookstore

By Randy Hayes

Sitting in the bookstore.
 When she caught my eye.
 Short skirt all hiked up.
 She heard my audible sigh.
 She looked up and smiling.
 Patted the the adjoining seat.
 I sat down and said.
“It’s you I came to meet.”
The book that she was reading.
 “Sex and Other Things.”
Spoke to me of fun times.
 Plucking my heart strings.
 We walked out together.
And for years we’ve been two.
 And we bought that bookstore.
Seemed like the thing to do.
